Cato Unbound is one of those publications that I don’t read as much as I should. Each issue they pick a really interesting topic and find four really interesting scholars from different backgrounds to have a conversation about it. Current and past issues that really float my boat include:
Inequality: Facts and Values with Will Wilkinson, Lane Kenworthy, John Nye, and Elizabeth Anderson.
Behind Bars in the Land of the Free with Glenn Loury, John R. Lott Jr, James Q. Wilson, and Bruce Western.
When Corporations Hate Markets with Roderick Long, Matt Yglesias, Steve Horowitz, and Dean Baker.
Mexicans in America with Richard Rodriguez, Victor Davis Hanson, Doug Massey, and Stephen Trejo.
You can browse the archives for other topics too if none of those suits your fancy. The important thing is that these issues foster interdisciplinary discussions that force writers to drop their jargon and talk to the reader in clear language. I highly recommend you check it out.
