.) Call for papers at Michigan Social Theory Conference. They’re looking for graduate student papers funky topics such as space/place, the body, time, memory, visuality and technology.
.) Harvard Offers Sociology Course on The Wire. Taught by WJ Wilson. File under “freakin’ awesome.”
.) Permutations. New blog from the math section of the ASA. Who says Austrians don’t like math?
.) Rhode Island bans indoor prostitution. Unintended consequences, anyone? Someone send a copy of The Fatal Conceit to the governor please.
.) GOP did well in yesterday’s election. We just read Theda Skocpol’s Boomerang for class. My Skocpolian prediction is that Obama’s healthcare plan is as good as dead now.
.) John McWhorter on Zora Neale Hurston. I read Their Eyes Were Watching God last year and absolutely loved it.
